Pre & Aftercare Permanent Makeup
Instructions on how to properly care for your beauty treatments to ensure long-lasting results.
Pre-Care Advice
You must first complete your patch test and pre-treatment form which will be checked by your permanent artist
You must stop using skin thinners on the brow or lip area such as in glycolic acids, Vitamin A and exfoliation.
Tinting the brow area should be done at least 1 week before treatment.
Any brow hairs that fall out of your new brow shape can be removed at your appointment.
Botox or fillers should be done 4 weeks before
Chemical peels close to the brow area should be done at least 4 weeks before treatment.
Hair laser removal should be done at least 2 weeks before treatment.
Brow hair stimulating products should not be used 2 weeks before treatment.
Alcohol, caffeine or blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin) MUST NOT be consumed 48 hours before your treatment. This will effect you results due to excess bleeding.
If you draw your brows on, we encourage you to come to your appointment with your brow makeup on so we can see your personal preference.
Bring your favourite lip colour if that is the colour you’re aiming for
It is common to experience more sensitivity and pain around or during your menstrual cycle in case you’d like to arrange your appointment around this.
We will not be able to tattoo over any sores, blemishes or moles in the brow area. If you have a dermatitis, eczema or any other skin flare up in the brow area you should wait until this has cleared.
Aftercare Advice
Following the correct aftercare is essential to ensure you get the the best HEALED results possible ensuring accurate healing and colour retention. Results will vary depending upon skin type and lifestyle.
Your brows and/or will look much darker for the first 7 days as your skin begins the healing process. During the healing process your brows may feel itchy and start to flake/scab. You MUST resist the urge to scratch or pick. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of skin, THIS IS NORMAL.
Also, it is highly likely that you will experience some skin sensitivity, redness and swelling for about 1-2 days. You might consider an over the counter pain reliever to help you get through. All tattoos carry the inherent risk of infection and/or allergic reaction, if pain or tenderness persists for longer than a few days, consult your doctor immediately.
The first day after treatment, blot away any excess fluids with a clean facial tissue. DO not wipe, just blot.
You will be provided with an aftercare ointment. Make sure to use it. It is recommended that you use the ointment at all times during this healing process until scabbing is complete (approximately 2 weeks).
Clean 2 times a day: simply take a slightly moist cotton pad and very gently blot clean then apply the ointment lightly. This is done twice a day, once in the morning and once at night.
For lips: Clean 2 X a day and apply ointment all day, do not let your lips dry out.
For lips: avoid spicy foods or wine during healing
For lips: you may experience cold sores (even if you have never had them) as your lips can become very irritated with the procedure. If this is the case, please contact your doctor for anti-virals.
Once the scabbing has completely come off, you can discontinue using the ointment.
Avoid submerging the tattoo in water during the first 3 weeks
Avoid sunbathing, saunas, steam-rooms, swimming or sweating for 7 days.
Pin back your fringe to avoid hair disturbing the brow area as this may cause infection and irritation.
If you are not feeling 100% healthy, it may take longer for your treatment to heal and symptoms may appear more prominent.
Your retouch appointment must take place 6-12 weeks after your first treatment.
If you would like a third appointment for additional colour saturation then this can be done for an added cost. First two sessions are included in your price.
